Tony Lee






Award-winning Navajo sculptor Tony Lee grew up in the New Mexico Southwest. His parents, both silversmiths, inspired Tony's interest in art. Tony's talent was first recognized when, in fourth grade, his pastel drawing was awarded second place at the Shiprock Northern Navajo Fair. He went on to study welding at Utah Technical College and began to focus his work in the field of fine art and the challenge of expressing his creativity through mixed media.

In May 1987, Tony received his certificate in three -dimensional art and the following year completed his Associate of Fine Arts Degree at the Institute of American Indian Arts (IAIA) in Santa Fe. Tony was featured in the 1986-87 Tenth Annual Edition of the National Dean's List and the 1988 edition of Who's Who Amoung Students in American Junior Colleges. In August of 1988, he received a Certificate of Appreciation from New Mexico Governor Gary Carruthers.

Tony was most privileged to work as Assistant Sculptor to the renowned 20th Century Master Sculptor Allan Houser Haozous from 1989 until Houser's death in 1994. Tony continues to work with Allan Houser,Inc., while also pursuing his own artistic endeavors.

Tony Lee has participated in many selected exhibitions and his stone and metal sculptures have won him multiple awards and honors.

Tony is currently represented exclusively in Arizona by Figarelli Galleries.
